New Player Guide

Every fresh character on CirrusRO starts in the Novice Training Grounds, the classic walled-off tutorial island. It's worth doing properly: the instructors hand out EXP, a full set of novice gear, hundreds of potions, and a first-job starter kit, and every EXP reward is paid at CirrusRO's 5x rate. Done right, you walk out at Base Level 13 / Job Level 9 before killing a single serious monster.

You only get one visit

The Training Grounds are once per character, with no re-entry. Two dialog options dump you straight into the outside world with nothing:

  • the Receptionist's "Direct access to Ragnarok Online"
  • the Kafra Employee's Teleport Service

Avoid both until you've finished everything. Also, never press ESC or log out in the middle of a lesson: the instructors track your progress mid-conversation, and an interrupted class can't be retaken.

The short version

  1. Claim your account's free Welcome Pack from Aruna, steps away from where you spawn.
  2. Talk to the Receptionist in the castle and Apply for training (type your exact character name).
  3. Take all three classroom lessons, Alice's item class first, and follow her two instructions exactly.
  4. Listen to Elmeen's battle lecture (answer "Yes"), then take Muriel's field test for the big supply kit.
  5. Level on the training fields, then head north to graduate: Keyman, Bruce, then Hanson's aptitude quiz.
  6. Accept Hanson's recommendation to receive a first-job starter kit and a free warp to your job town.

Step by step

1. Arrival (new_1-1)

You spawn next to Shion, who explains the basics, and our bulletin board with server info.

Before anything else, talk to Aruna under the "Welcome Pack" sign a few steps away (she has a "Click Me!" balloon over her head until you claim). She hands every account a one-time Welcome Pack; everything in it is account-bound, so it's shared by every character you make:

  • 3x Advanced Battle Manual (+100% EXP) and 3x Job Manual (+50% Job EXP)
  • 2x Bubble Gum (+100% drop)
  • 15x Kafra Transportation Ticket and 15x Kafra Storage Ticket
  • 2x Kafra Card (open storage from anywhere)
  • 2x Elite Siege Supply Box
  • 1x Costume Swablu
  • 1x Neuralizer (skill reset) and 1x Premium Reset Stone (stat reset)
  • 4x Blessing Scroll and 4x Agi Scroll

Missed her and left the island? No harm done: every new character starts at the same spot, so you can claim your account's pack on any fresh alt.

When you're ready, cross the bridge to the east and enter the glowing portal into the castle.

2. Reception (new_1-2)

Talk to the Receptionist and choose Apply for training. She asks you to type your name: enter your exact character name or the dialog ends. You're then warped up to the classroom hall.

3. The three classroom lessons

The lesson EXP scales with your level but stops entirely at Base 8 / Job 7, so do all three lessons before any fighting. Recommended order:

  • Alice, the Item tutor (do her first). She has two moments where she asks you to act before continuing, and each one pays bonus EXP only if you actually do it:
    1. When she hands you a Novice Potion and lowers your HP: drink it before clicking next.
    2. When she hands you the Novice Hood, Boots, and Egg Cap: equip the Novice Boots before clicking next. She finishes with a supply pack: 10 Fly Wings, 2 Butterfly Wings, and 50 Novice Potions.
  • Kris, the Interface tutor: sit through the lesson, receive EXP and the Novice Plate armor.
  • Cecil, the Skill tutor: sit through the whole lesson (she demonstrates by lowering your HP, it's harmless) and she teaches you First Aid permanently, plus EXP. Don't take her "Field Combat now!" shortcut, it skips the lesson and the skill.

The Kafra Employee in the classroom hall also pays small one-time EXP for listening to her Save service and Storage service explanations, worth grabbing while you're still under level 8. Just stay away from her Teleport Service.

4. Combat briefing

Take the tutors' warp to the Field Combat staging area, then:

  • Elmeen, the Helper: answer "Yes" when she asks if you've equipped everything, and sit through her battle lecture. Her EXP reward scales with your level, so coming here after all three lessons pays the top bracket.
  • Muriel, the Entrance Guard: say "Yes" to the field test. She hands you the combat kit: Novice Knife, Novice Guard, 2 Magnifiers, 300 Novice Potions, 9 Fly Wings, and a Butterfly Wing, saves your respawn point beside her, and warps you to the training field.

You can retake the drill once

If you return to Muriel after your first warp-in (a Butterfly Wing brings you right back, and dying in the grounds costs nothing), she'll run you through the drill one more time for a large EXP bonus and another 50 Novice Potions. Do it once; it doesn't repeat after that.

5. Training fields

Fight your way through the practice mobs (Porings, Drops, Lunatics, ChonChons, Fabres). Hoffman the Trainer on each field can warp you to harder tiers (Condors, Pickys, Rockers, Thief Bugs, Spores) whenever you feel ready. All kills pay normal 5x server rates, and your 300-potion stack makes this very forgiving.

6. Graduation (north staff)

When you're satisfied (two extra base levels is the suggested pace), talk to Keyman at the north of the field to move on, then:

  • Bruce explains the first job classes. Listen to at least one class explanation, he won't pass you to the final test otherwise.
  • Hanson runs the aptitude quiz: a short personality test that recommends a first job, plus a parting gift of 4 Red, 2 Yellow, and 2 Green Potions. You then choose how to leave, and both paths come with supplies:
    • Accept his recommendation: you receive 5 Kafra Warp Tickets, 5 Cargo Tickets, a class weapon, and 7 Phracon to refine it (for example the Swordman kit includes a Falchion; the Merchant kit swaps some tickets for Cart Tickets), plus a free warp to that job's town.
    • Pick "my own choice": you name any first job yourself and still receive 5 Kafra Warp Tickets, 5 Cargo Tickets, and an Adventurer's Suit, plus a free warp to the town of the class you chose. The weapon kit is the more valuable package, so the best move is to answer the quiz toward the class you actually plan to play and accept. If the quiz recommends something you don't want, take "my own choice": you land in the right town and still leave with supplies.

What you leave with

Doing everything above, a graduate exits the grounds with:

Reward Amount
Base Level 13 (2,575 EXP banked from instructors alone)
Job Level 9 of the novice cap of 10 (8 skill points)
Skill First Aid (permanent)
Gear Novice Plate, Novice Hood, Novice Boots, Novice Egg Cap, Novice Knife, Novice Guard, 2x Magnifier
Consumables ~400 Novice Potions, 19 Fly Wings, up to 3 Butterfly Wings, 4 Red + 2 Yellow + 2 Green Potions
Job kit Kafra tickets + a class weapon and 7 Phracon (recommendation accepted) or an Adventurer's Suit (own choice), plus a free warp to the job town
Welcome Pack Once per account, from Aruna at the spawn: EXP/Job manuals, Bubble Gum, Kafra tickets, Elite Siege Supply Boxes, Costume Swablu, a skill and a stat reset, buff scrolls

After you graduate

  • Two novice-only skills are waiting in Prontera, and both are lost forever if you job-change first:
    • First Aid quest (talk to Nami, prt_in 234,133): a short errand chain. If you took Cecil's class you already know First Aid, but finishing Nami's chain is the prerequisite for the next one.
    • Play Dead (the Chivalry Member in the Prontera Chivalry office, prt_in 73,87): requires Job Level 7+ and the finished First Aid chain. A Training Grounds graduate at Job 9 qualifies immediately.
  • Novice Goods Exchangers in the major towns trade cheap starter monster drops (Jellopy and friends) for Red Potions, handy before you have an income.
  • From there: check Rates & Mechanics for how the 5x rates work, Repeatable EXP Quests for your first leveling boosts, and Classic+ Features for the Cirrus Warper, buffs, and everything else the server adds.

Welcome to CirrusRO. Enjoy the climb!
